Natural Disaster Planning and Families with Food Allergies

Being from Miami, Fl, I have been through my share of natural disasters. It is hard enough to deal with no air conditioning, no stove, and no clean running water, but, being diabetic, one of my major concerns has always been making sure my insulin was in a cool place.

Interestingly, I had a recent phone call with a family from Puerto Rico who, in preparing for the hurricane season, raved about how our ready- to-drink Splash (for children ages 1year +) products are life savers for those times of natural disasters when fresh water supply may be hard to come by. I thought this was such a great idea and a very helpful tip for families that may face such scenarios.

If, unfortunately, you are left without clean running water due to a natural disaster, you may face an issue if your child uses a powdered hypoallergenic formula like Neocate Junior where you will have to add clean water to use.  With the option of ready-to-drink Splash, it can help to solve these problems because Splash requires no additional mixing or measuring of water. You can just open and drink the elemental Splash, quick and easy. The family in Puerto Rico used mostly Neocate Junior but kept cases of Splash stashed just in case a hurricane hit. Ultimately, they were more at ease knowing they had a hypoallergenic formula for their child even if the weather got unpredictable.

What tips can you provide about how to manage a child with food allergies when or if a natural disaster hits? These types of tips can be vital for other families.
