You asked, and we listened! Neocate Syneo Infant is the latest Neocate product to be certified Kosher Pareve.
WHAT DOES KOSHER MEAN?
The word kosher is Hebrew for fit, proper, or correct. For food, this means that it was made in accordance with Jewish dietary law, or the laws of kashrut. “Kashrut” refers to which foods may or may not be consumed. This law also guides how food should be prepared and eaten.
To obtain kosher certification, a product must undergo an extensive review by an auditor from an accredited organization. This review looks at ingredients used and how the product is processed and manufactured. During the review, all ingredients and procedures must meet a set of standardized requirements to receive approval. Learn more about kosher certification.
KLBD AND NEOCATE FORMULAS
Neocate formulas have been assessed by an outside organization, the Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din (KLBD).
KLBD Kosher Certification is a leading global kosher certification agency. They have been operating across six continents for more than a century. Their rabbis, food technologists and food chemists work as certification partners, along with representatives and agents in 60 countries worldwide.
The ingredients in Neocate Syneo Infant are the latest to be reviewed by KLBD. The KLBD also reviewed supplier information and the manufacturing process in the United Kingdom. Upon completion of the review, they gave their approval that Neocate Syneo Infant is kosher.
To help visually spot this approval, our cans of Neocate are permitted to have the KLBD logo.
WHAT KIND OF KOSHER STATUS DOES NEOCATE SYNEO INFANT HAVE?
To be a bit more specific, Neocate formulas are certified Kosher Pareve. “Pareve” means there is nothing derived from milk or meat used in the product or on the manufacturing equipment used to make the product.
Neocate powdered products are made in a 100% dairy-protein free facility. This reduces chances of cross-contamination. Families that keep kosher can serve Neocate to their children regardless of whether they are having a dairy or meat meal.
OVERVIEW OF NEOCATE’S KOSHER STATUS
At this time, we have kosher certification for many of our Neocate products including:
- Neocate® Syneo® Infant
- Neocate® Infant DHA/ARA
- Neocate® Syneo® Junior
- Neocate® Junior, Unflavored
- Neocate® Junior, Vanilla
- Neocate® Junior, Chocolate
Neocate Junior, Strawberry is also made with similar ingredients from the same suppliers and in the same facility, but we have not sought certification for it at this time.
IS NEOCATE KOSHER FOR PASSOVER?
Neocate products have not been certified as acceptable for use during the Passover holiday, so it is non-Passover. It is not unusual for a kosher food item to not have Kosher for Passover certification as well; many Kosher items are non-Passover.
We know that some of our customers are happy to see the KLBD logo on more of our Neocate products. Are you one of those customers, and how important is this to you?
