Pepticate contains lactose, a carbohydrate naturally found in breast milk which lends a sweet taste.
Cow milk allergy and lactose intolerance are not the same. Cow milk allergy is caused by the immune system reacting to the protein found in cow milk and other dairy products. Lactose intolerance is rare in babies, and is caused by a deficiency of the enzyme lactase—which is not the same issue as cow milk allergy.
